A strategic partnership for the innovation and growth of the Italian tourism sector
The Ministry of Tourism and Unioncamere have signed an agreement to involve 20,000 tourism businesses in the Tourism Digital Hub platform. This platform aims to enhance the Italian tourist offer on international markets and encourage the digitalisation of the sector. The tourism strategic plan also includes governance, innovation, quality, training and sustainability objectives.
Unioncamere and the Ministry of Tourism have signed an agreement to involve and support 20,000 businesses in the tourism supply chain by June 2024. The Chambers of Commerce will engage these companies to participate in the promotional and incentive programs that the Ministry will launch in the coming months. These programs include the implementation of the Tourism Digital Hub content and services platform, created by the Ministry, which aims to connect the entire Italian tourism ecosystem.

The creation of the Tourism Digital Hub, financed with Pnrr funds for a total of 114 million euros, aims to enhance, integrate and promote the Italian tourist offer on international markets. This platform will connect the entire tourism ecosystem, amplifying the information collected by regional and local systems. The agreement between Unioncamere and the Ministry of Tourism provides for various initiatives at a territorial level, involving the local chamber of commerce system and trade associations, to enrich the contents of the platform and encourage the entire tourism sector.
Strategic tourism plan: strategic objectives and pillars for Italy
In May 2023, the Productive Activities Committee of the Chamber approved the 2023-2027 Tourism Strategic Plan, which aims to innovate, specialize and integrate the national tourism offer. Its general objectives are to increase the competitiveness of the sector, develop effective and innovative marketing and achieve efficient governance in the process of developing tourism policies. The plan is based on five strategic pillars: governance, innovation, quality and inclusion, training and new skills, sustainability.
Digital tourism: digitalisation as the key to the development of the sector
The 2023-2027 Tourism Strategic Plan envisages a strong digitalisation of internal and external services to strengthen digital tourism in Italy. In this context, the Tourism Digital Hub plays a fundamental role, allowing the world of both public and private tourism to be systemised. The objective is to offer innovative, safe and personalized services to tourists, while ensuring the protection of privacy and IT security. The digitalisation of services in the tourism sector will facilitate long-term, sustainable experiences for visitors.
